There are many different types of spine diseases that can affect the health and function of the spine. Here’s a few of them:

  • Degenerative disc disease: Degenerative disc disease is when the discs between the vertebrae begin to break down. This disease is more common as you get older.
  • Spinal tumors: Spinal tumors can originate in the spine or can occur from the spread of tumors in another part of the body. These tumors can cause pain and numbness to the spine.
  • Herniated discs: A herniated disc occurs when the soft inner portion of a disc in the spine comes through the outer layer. It can cause pain and weakness in the arms or legs depending on where the herniated disc is.
