As we get older, our body and spine become more prone to injuries so it’s important to keep them strong. Here are some tips to keep your spine healthy as you age:
- Work on your posture: Poor posture is one of the most common factors of back pain. The older we get, the worse our posture becomes. Try to keep your back as straight as possible when sitting or standing to change your posture.
- Eat a healthy diet: Your spine will be as strong as what you eat. Try to eat foods that are rich with Vitamin D, Calcium, and Potassium to maintain a healthy spine. Some foods rich with these are yogurt, salmon, and eggs.
- Exercise and stay flexible: Exercising helps to strengthen and support your spine. It is recommended that you do 30 minutes of exercise a day whether it be walking, running, stretching, etc.
