It’s Pumpkin Spice Season! Did you know that pumpkin has a variety of health benefits? Pumpkins are a member of the gourd family making them a great source of low-calorie fiber. Pumpkin is also rich in Vitamin A which helps maintain healthy skin, teeth, and bones, and promotes good vision. They also contain tryptophan, an amino acid that helps make serotonin, and beta-carotene, a powerful antioxidant that can help protect against heart disease and slow the aging process. Not all pumpkin spices are beneficial however,  overly processed pumpkin products with a lot of added sugar can actually cause inflammation throughout the body. So add this superfood to your diet this autumn and feel the health benefits for yourself.
