Why does the cold weather really affect your back pain? Our body’s natural response to the cold is a process called vasoconstriction. During this time our blood vessels narrow and redirect it towards our vital organs so they stay warm. When our muscles stiffen up from lack of circulation it causes pain that can worsen into discomfort or even muscle spasms if left untreated Dressing in layers may help keep you warm during winter months but pay attention to any back or neck problems because those areas might be more sensitive than other parts of your body.
