Woman experiencing neck and upper back discomfort caused by poor posture while working

Sciatica is a common condition that affects millions of people every year. Posture has a huge influence on sciatica. Here are some ways poor posture affects sciatica:

  • Misalignment of the Spine: Poor posture can lead to spinal misalignments which can worsen nerve compression.
  • Muscle Imbalance and Tension: Poor posture can lead to muscle imbalance and tension which can enhance the symptoms of sciatica.
  • Increased Pressure on the Lower Back: Slouching while sitting or standing can increase pressure on the lower back and can cause pain.
