Sciatica – Causes and Treatment

Sciatica is a common condition that affects the sciatic nerve, ultimately causing pain from your lower back to your buttock and down the back of your leg. It can be caused by pressure or irritation on the sciatic nerve, often due to herniated discs, pregnancy, bone spurs, overuse injuries or even an infection. The symptoms of sciatica vary in severity and may include burning sensations, tingling and numbness along the affected area. Sciatica can also cause significant muscle weakness in addition to sharp pain, making it difficult to perform daily activities like walking or climbing stairs. At Montesano Spine and Sport, we understand the debilitating effects of sciatica and are committed to helping you manage the pain and discomfort with experienced and compassionate care.
