Prevent Back Pain While Biking

Bicycle riding is a great way to stay fit and have fun, but it can cause back pain if not done correctly. Fortunately, there are some steps you can take to prevent back pain while biking. First, make sure your bike is properly fitted for your body type. Having an ill-fitting bike can strain the muscles in your back and cause pain. A bike shop or knowledgeable friend can help you adjust the bike saddle, handlebar and pedals so that they fit your body properly. Second, make sure to use proper posture while riding. Keep your back straight and core muscles engaged to protect your spine from strain. Be mindful of how you are sitting on the bike and avoid slouching. Third, use the right gear for your ride. If you’re going on a long ride, wear padded shorts to reduce pressure on your backside while you’re in the saddle. Additionally, wearing a supportive belt or lumbar support can help keep your lower back supported and comfortable during longer rides. Finally, take regular breaks during your ride. Even if you’re in the middle of a long distance ride, hopping off your bike for a few minutes every hour or so can help reduce strain on your back and allow you to continue riding with less pain. By following these steps, you can help prevent back pain while biking and enjoy your ride to the fullest!
