In the sports world there are consistently injuries occurring, especially injuries that affect the spine and the head. It’s not uncommon for concussions and spine injuries to occur together. Understanding their connection is important for prevention. Concussions are traumatic brain injuries caused by a blow or jolt to the head. Spine injuries can simultaneously occur in sports especially when high-impact forces are involved. Both the spine and brain are important parts of the nervous system so if one is injured, it could affect the other.
